A Tribute to the Life, Love and Legend of Johnny Cash and June Carter will be presented at historic Thompson’s Opera House in Pioche February 18 at 2 p.m. by Jimmie Ray and Cyndi Cantrell with their band Black Train.

A statement regarding the performance said, “Something magical happens when the first notes of ‘Folsom Prison Blues’ are heard and Jimmie begins ‘I hear the train a comin’’ or Cyndi delivers a heart rending version of June singing ‘Take the ribbon from my hair.’ Together, the duo kicks in to the always crowd-pleasing ‘We got married in a fever.’”

This tribute appeals to audiences of all ages. As the music progresses, audiences are taken back to what they might have seen, felt or heard during an actual Johnny and June concert. “There is just something everyone loves about Johnny Cash – The Music, The Man and this tribute to his and June’s memory,” the statement said.

In addition to the music of Johnny and June, the performance is a musical journey from Johnny’s days in the Arkansas cotton fields up through and including the very last song he wrote and recorded, “Like the 309.”

Married and singing together since 1994, Ray and Cantrell have appeared as a duo, with one of their bands, or as special guests with other bands at the world famous Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas, Yuma Territorial Prison, The Suncoast Showroom, John Ascauga’s Nugget in Sparks, The Flamingo, Jerry’s Nugget, The Imperial Palace, Deep Rock Drive, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Starbright Theater, Freedom Hall, Legends Ranch, Stations Casinos, AVI Resort, Charleston Heights Art Center and many more.
