Trails have stretched around the county for decades, but recently the city of Caliente has leaned into the idea of using the area’s natural beauty and those rugged pathways not only to enhance the community economically but socially as well.
According to Christine Harrington, the Caliente Mountain Biking Association Chair, new mountain bike trails in and around Caliente were unique in a lot of ways from the start. While most bike trails around the country are developed off pre-trodden pathways used by farmers and wildlife, these trails were designed and implemented from scratch. The project, spearheaded by previous mayor Stana Hurlburt, had help from the Bureau of Land Management, the Nevada State Parks, Lincoln County and the City of Caliente.
