About the Experience

Your adventure begins at the Caliente Train Depot, where we’ll greet participants and travel together to the trilobite site near Sugar Hill. Along the way, your guide will share fascinating insights into the region’s unique geology, desert wildlife, and the prehistoric ocean that once thrived here.

Upon arrival, guests can participate in a hands-on fossil dig, using simple tools to search for and collect trilobite fossils embedded in shale rock. You’ll learn to identify different species, understand how they lived, and even take home a few of your discoveries as authentic Lincoln County souvenirs.

Between digs, enjoy a desert photo session highlighting the dramatic rock formations and sweeping desert backdrops, perfect for family photos, couple portraits, or social media-worthy shots of your find.
