Local Businesses Are Great Community Supporters
Lincoln County businesses love supporting the local community. Here is one example.
Over the last few weeks, ending on Feb. 28, local Lincoln County business Granny’s Attic held a contest to see how creative the elementary school kids in the northern part of the county could be.
Granny’s Attic is an antiques/repurposed goods/other home décor business based in Panaca, and the competition was open to any elementary school student in Caliente, Pioche, and Panaca.
The kids were issued coloring pages depicting an elderly granny sitting in a rocking chair (hence the “Granny’s Attic Rocks!” tagline) with the admonition to “be creative!” with what they drew, and the winners from each school were judged based off of originality and creativity. [Read More]
Pioche Fire House Added to National Register of Historic Places
“Add another building to the National Register of Historic Places in the town of Pioche.
“The National Park Service announced new listings last Friday, including the Ely Fire Station and the Pioche Fire House, adding to the more than 300 historic sites in Nevada.
“Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Henry Brean noted that the two firehouses were built in the late 1920s. He wrote, ‘The Ely City Hall and Fire Station, about 240 miles north of Las Vegas, has housed city government offices for almost 90 years and served as headquarters for Ely’s fire department from 1929 to 1999. The Pioche Fire House, 175 miles northeast of Las Vegas, housed that community’s fire department from 1928 until 1954, when a larger, more modern station replaced it.'” [Read More]
Annual Park to Park Pedal

The ride is also known as the Extreme 100 because the longest course is a little over 100 miles and includes visits to four of the five state parks within the county including Cathedral Gorge, Spring Valley, and Echo Canyon. Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls Impress at Lincoln County Fair
From the Lincoln County Record:
Internationally known trip riding and roping team the Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls were the featured rodeo performers at the annual Lincoln County Fair in Panaca.
The team, from Three Rivers, California, made their first appearance at the county fair.
Created in 1957 and known in the United States, Canada and 17 other countries, including several European countries and Australia, the nine-member team has even performed before Queen Elizabeth II during her 60-year Jubilee in 2012. A few members even were invited to have tea with the queen. [Read More]
