Imagine that perfect small-town charm mixed with the thrill of the rodeo, the pride of local exhibits, and a whole heap of community spirit – that’s what awaits you.

Arena Action & Animal Antics!

Looking at all the exciting happenings lined up, you can just feel the buzz in the air. From the littlest cowboys and cowgirls trying their hand at Pee Wee Rodeo events (how adorable are those stick horses going to be?!) to the more seasoned young riders in the Jr Rodeo showing their impressive skills, there’s something to cheer for at every turn. And who knows, you might just witness a future rodeo star in the making!

But the fun doesn’t stop at the arena gates! The fairgrounds will be bustling with activity for the whole family. Think talented pups showing off their agility in the 4-H Dog Agility Competition, creative community exhibits showcasing the best of Lincoln County, and even the nail-biting Nevada’s Best Cowdog Trials – talk about some seriously talented working dogs!

For those with a love for livestock, the Showmanship Livestock Clinic is a fantastic opportunity to learn from the best. And who can resist the cuteness overload of the Junior Livestock Clinic? It’s a wonderful way to see the dedication of the local youth.

Want to test your own skills? Why not check out the Gymkhana events? Barrels, poles, and flags – it’s a fast-paced and exciting competition for riders of all ages. And for a bit of classic rodeo action, you won’t want to miss the Jackpot Barrel Race or the thrilling team roping events.

Step Inside: A Peek at Our Community’s Best!

And speaking of showcasing local talent and community pride, you absolutely won’t want to miss the fantastic County Fair Exhibits! Head over to the LC Fair Exhibit Building at the LC Recreational Park and Fair Grounds (1631 ST RT 319, Panaca, NV 89042) to see all the amazing talent our county has to offer. Exhibits are open to the public on Thursday, August 7th from 1 PM – 7 PM, Friday, August 8th from 9 AM – 7 PM, and Saturday, August 9th from 9 AM – 7 PM. It’s a wonderful chance to support our local 4-H members and discover hidden gems!

And for those dreaming of royalty, the Lincoln County Fair & Rodeo Royalty Pageant is a highlight not to be missed! Witness the crowning of the Tiny Princess (ages 5-8), Princess (ages 9-12), and Queen (ages 13-18). These young ladies will be judged on poise, personality, appearance, and horsemanship, with interviews and impromptu questions, all leading up to the grand crowning at 7:00 PM on August 6th, 2025. Come cheer on our contestants and celebrate the future ambassadors of our fair!

Let’s not forget some of the truly unique and fun events that scream “small-town fair”! Mutton Bustin’ – hold on tight, little ones! – and even Mini Bulls for the slightly older adventurous souls.

As the sun sets, the magic begins: a Glow-in-the-Dark Bike Parade, a spectacular fireworks show, and an outdoor dance party under the stars to close out the day in true Alamo style.

A Big Win for Nevada Trails and Rural Communities

May 26, 2025 by editor

Get ready, trail lovers — Nevada trails are leveling up in a big way with the grand opening of the Prospector Trail System just south of Pioche! With 16 miles of rugged, scenic, and adventure-packed multi-use trails, this new addition is more than just a place to ride or hike — it’s a game-changer for the region.

In a recent video from IMBA, Christine Prescott, Director of the Caliente Area Mountain Bike Association and board member of the Lincoln County Trails Coalition, summed it up perfectly:

“More trails close to home is so real and so important.”

This quote captures the heart of why Nevada trails like the Prospector system matter so much—especially in rural areas like Pioche, where large stretches of land separate small towns. These new trails help close the physical and recreational gaps, offering local residents greater access to outdoor activities right in their own backyard.

Prospector: A New Chapter for Nevada Trails Near Pioche

The Prospector Trail System features 16 miles of scenic, thoughtfully designed trails that wind through the rugged landscape just outside Pioche. Though the trails are bi-directional, visitors will quickly establish preferred flow directions, creating natural loops and routes that cater to every ability level. This kind of trail design is perfect for encouraging growth, progression, and exploration within the broader Lincoln County, Nevada trails network.

Prospector Trail System

Lincoln County, Nevada Trails: Powered by Partnerships

This addition to Nevada singletrack trails wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and cooperation of several key partners: the Bureau of Land Management, Caliente Area Mountain Bikers Association, Lincoln County Trails Coalition, Pioche Chamber of Commerce, and the Town of Pioche. Their shared vision helped turn this rural trail dream into reality.

Explore the Newest Addition to Lincoln County, Nevada Trails

Ready to hit the trail? Whether you’re a longtime local or just passing through, the new Prospector Trail System is your invitation to experience the beauty, challenge, and community spirit that define Nevada. The trails were officially complete the first of May, 2025, and offer 16 miles of beginner to expert routes. If you decide to start at the bottom and ride all the way to the top of the Silver Strike line, you’ll experience over 1200 feet of elevation gain. The views are absolutely as beautiful as the intricate rock work the trail builders crafted. The combination of high desert landscape, wide open spaces, and challenging singletrack make this a great stop for your next mountain biking adventure!

Come see why trails close to home matter — and why Lincoln County, Nevada trails continue to lead the way.
